LONDON – Former BBC high-flying producer Ruth Caleb is joining forces with independent production banner Argonon’s drama arm Leopardrama.
Caleb, whose resume boasts movies Pawel Pawlikowski‘s The Last Resort, Saul Dibb‘s Bullet Boy and TV’s A Short Stay in Switzerland starring Emmy-award winner Julie Walters, will be working on Leopardrama’s existing projects including a movie about the life of flamboyant Irish-born entertainer Danny La Rue, once billed as the world’s most famous female impersonator.
Caleb will also work on the much-anticipated Terence Davies movie, Mother of Sorrows, and will be tasked with developing new dramas for the company.
Caleb’s 40 years-plus track record includes becoming the BBC’s first female head of drama when she was appointed Head of BBC Wales Drama in the mid-1980s.
Caleb’s TV drama Care, which was broadcast in 2000, was awarded the 2001 BAFTA TV award for best single drama and the Prix Italia for best TV drama.
Leopardrama’s output includes An Englishman in New York and the Vincent Regan thriller The Holding
Caleb will work closely with Leopardrama development producer Jez Swimer and executive producer Joey Attawia.

Caleb’s arrival into the Argonon fold marks the latest in a series of signings across the group as it looks to expand its creative roster.
Caleb said: “Leopardrama has a strong slate of projects and it is a good time for drama. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and working on a range of projects with talented writers and directors.”
Argonon is a production group formed by Burstall in 2011.
Leopardrama, Leopard Films, Leopard Films USA and Remedy Productions were the first to join the group, with Remedy Canada launching in June 2012 backed by Argonon.
