BBC hit period medical drama Call the Midwife averaged 8.3 million viewers in its season-four debut Sunday night, according to overnight ratings data.
Ratings consultancy Attentional said it was the day’s most watched show in Britain. Its audience share amounted to 32.8 percent.

Last year, Midwife had debuted with an overnight average audience of 9.6 million. Its third season ended with 8.2 million viewers.
The BBC has already ordered a fifth season of the period drama, which in the U.S. airs on PBS. It is produced by Sam Mendes‘ Neal Street Productions.

Also on Sunday, BBC sitcom Still Open All Hours averaged 7.1 million viewers, and drama Last Tango in Halifax reached 6.2 million. Attentional said both achieved series highs for flagship channel BBC One.
On ITV, new variety show Get Your Act Together drew an average of 2.7 million viewers.
