Tony winner and Frasier alum Bebe Neuwirth is returning to series television.
The actress has signed on to co-star in CBS’ political drama Madam Secretary, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Created and written by Homeland‘s Barbara Hall, the drama centers on the personal and professional life of a maverick female secretary of state (Tea Leoni) as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life.
Neuwirth will play Nadine, the chief of staff to Leoni’s Elizabeth. The role marks Neuwirth’s return to series television following roles in Frasier, Cheers, Deadline, Law & Order: Trial by Jury and episodes of The Good Wife and Blue Bloods. She’s a four-time Emmy nominee, taking home the statuette for her supporting turns in Cheers. She’s repped by ICM Partners.

The actress, who won Tony Awards for her work in Sweet Charity and Chicago, joins a cast that includes Private Practice‘s Tim Daly as Elizabeth’s husband and Geoffrey Arend as Elizabeth’s speechwriter.
