Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens are adding three key executives to their new production shingle Propagate Content.
Kevin Healey has been named head of alternative programming, Brett-Patrick Jenkins joins as head of development and Nicole Laufer has been appointed director of development.
Propagate — which plans to expand its roster to include the development, production and distribution of premium scripted series, longform and unscripted content for all platforms worldwide — has projects in the works that include Apple’s first original unscripted series, produced in partnership with Will.i.Am. Among the others in development: recently announced comedic docu-series Unprotected for Oxygen, Evil Genius for History, My So-Called Simple Life for FYI, Animal ER for National Geographic Wild and a docuseries with Vivica A. Fox.
In his role, Healey will manage Propagate’s growing slate of unscripted and alternative content, which currently has eight series is production across seven different networks. One of the media industry’s leading experts in the hidden-camera and horror-comedy genres, Healey joins Propagate from eOne, where he worked on programs including TruTV sketch comedy Fameless, starring David Spade; Scare Pewdiepie for YouTube Red; Scare Tactics for Syfy; and Betty White’s Off Their Rockers for NBC.
“Kevin is one of the most sought-after creatives in the alternative content world, and has written, developed and produced an incredible range of acclaimed programs,” Silverman and Owens said Thursday in a statement. “As we continue our aggressive push into the unscripted programming space, we are thrilled to have him at the helm, leading our talented alternative development team and programming strategy.”
Said Healey: “I am very excited to join Propagate. In this fast-changing world of content distribution, Ben and Howard have a clear vision for new business models and I am happy to be on the ground floor as they begin to implement their strategy. I am also pleased to have Brett-Patrick and Nicole as part of my development team. They are experienced and talented production executives who bring a range of ideas to our growing alternative programming slate, and great energy to the team.”
Jenkins, meanwhile, will oversee the alternative development department. He hass developed programs for History, Lifetime, Discovery, HBO and most recently Face Off for Syfy. For her part, Laufer will manage the company’s development slate and generate original formats and character-driven docuseries. She previously held roles at ITV Studios.
