Stephen Hawking turns 73 on Thursday, Jan. 8, and in honor of his birthday the Discovery Channel will air the 2004 BBC film Hawking, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, on Saturday, Jan. 10.
The airing is timed nicely, considering the fact that the Golden Globe Awards are the following day. Cumberbatch is up for a Golden Globe for best actor in a drama against none other than Eddie Redmayne for his starring role in Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything. Cumberbatch’s Globe nomination is for his performance in The Imitation Game.
Hawking focuses on the British scientist’s younger years. The television film will air at 10 p.m.
