CBS and studio Warner Bros. Television are keeping the cast of The Big Bang Theory busy.
Co-star Melissa Rauch, who plays Howard’s wife, Bernadette, on TV’s No. 1 comedy, is teaming with her husband for a comedy set up at CBS, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The network has handed out a script commitment to multicamera comedy If We’re Not Married by 30, which Rauch and her husband/writing partner, Winston Rauch, will co-pen. The Warner Bros. Television comedy centers on a guy who comes to collect on a pre-teen promise made by his childhood best friend — whom he hasn’t seen in more than a decade.
Melissa and Winston Rauch, who will co-executive produce the comedy, also co-wrote Sony Pictures Worldwide’s feature film The Bronze. The duo — with Mark and Jay Duplass — also exec produced the film, in which the Big Bang Theory actress starred as a foul-mouthed former gymnastics bronze medalist who must fight for her local celebrity status when a young athlete’s star rises in town.
The couple have worked as a writing team since 2005 and started on comedy stage show The Miss Education of Jenna Bush, which won outstanding solo show at the New York International Fringe Festival. The comedy had an extended run through the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival as well as the Coronet Theater. The duo are repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment.
Married by 30 marks the second sale for a Big Bang Theory player this development season. CBS is also teaming with series regular Kevin Sussman (Stuart) for Sony Pictures Television’s multicam comedy Wife of Crime.
