The Blacklist star Megan Boone announced on Friday that her character would not carry a rifle again on the NBC show.
In addition to the vow, Boone apologized if her character, FBI agent/profiler Elizabeth Keen, ever made the gun seem cool.
“Liz Keen will never carry an assault rifle again and I am deeply sorry for participating in glorifying them in the past. Yours, girl from Florida,” Boone tweeted.
The decision comes in the wake of the mass shooting at a Florida high school, Stoneman Douglas, where 17 people were killed by a gunman using an AR-15.
Since the mass shooting at the school on Feb. 14, there has been an enormous backlash against the NRA from the public and from Hollywood, especially after the organization announced that schools should begin to arm teachers as a solution.
Numerous companies that did business with the NRA, including MetLife and United Airlines, have severed ties with the organization.
