Hulu has nabbed exclusive streaming rights to several new series including Blindspot and Lucifer in a multiyear deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.
Under the pact, subscribers to either of Hulu’s two paid plans will be able to stream season one of NBC’s Blindspot once the season has ended. Hulu will be the exclusive home of all future seasons of the Martin Gero crime drama. The streaming service will also stream all episodes of Lucifer, the DC Entertainment adaptation currently in its first season on Fox.
The deal further gives Hulu the rights to the full series library of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles. The first five seasons will become available in April with the final two seasons of the police procedural available on Hulu after they complete their television runs.
Hulu’s pact with Warner Bros. also extends to the full libraries of shows that have ended, including The O.C., Smallville and Southland, which will become available on Hulu later this year.
Hulu has been on an acquisition spree over the last year, acquiring the rights to such series at Empire and The Last Man on Earth. The streaming service, which is jointly owned by Disney-ABC Television Group, Fox Broadcasting Co. and NBCUniversal Television Group, has simultaneously begun to build its library of originals, including the Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV historical event series 11.22.63 starring James Franco.
