Bob Costas is adding some more responsibilities.
The 22-time Emmy winner has been tapped to host live town halls, beginning with Costas Tonight: Live From the Super Bowl, and an interview show titled Costas Tonight that will begin airing in spring 2012 on the NBC Sports Network.
Additionally, Costas will host the first-ever American Giving Awards, a joint effort by Chase, dick clark productions and Intersport. The awards will be aired on NBC on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m.
The Costas Tonight: Live From series will look at issues that emerge in sports. Costas Tonight: Live From the Super Bowl will feature appearances by NFL stars and newsmakers, focusing on the state of the NFL, with a preview of Super Bowl XKLVI and a discussion of what has been going on in the football season.

Costas Tonight: Live From the Super Bowl will be aired live in front of a studio audience on the NBC Sports Network from the Indiana Repertory Theater on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at 8 p.m. Upcoming Costas Tonight: Live From series next year will be announced in the near future.
“This is the type of show I have always enjoyed doing, with elements of journalism and commentary, but also with segments of pure sports appeal. We produced similar programming at HBO and it was very well received,” said Costas. “As NBC Sports has broadened its reach across numerous platforms, I am looking forward to again being part of this type of programming for the NBC Sports Network.”
“Bob is one of the most talented and accomplished broadcasters in television history, and we wanted to find an outlet on the new NBC Sports Network that was uniquely suited for him,” said Sam Flood, executive producer at NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network. “Bob is so closely associated with NBC Sports that it was a natural fit to extend his unmatched talents to the NBC Sports Network.”
Costas Tonight will debut on Thursday nights in Spring 2012 on the NBC Sports Network, which will be renamed from Versus on Jan. 2, 2012. Costas’ previous shows included Later with Bob Costas, Costas Coast-to-Coast, On the Record and CostasNOW.
