Bob Odenkirk dropped by The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, where he shared a hilarious story about Jeremy Irons going off on him years ago.
Odenkirk, who currently stars in the film Nobody, was a writer at Saturday Night Live at the time. When Irons hosted, Odenkirk told Stern, he got an earful over some bad jokes.
“Rob Schneider and I had written this monologue, and it wasn’t great,” Odenkirk recalled, laughing. “He was really mad. He was so mad.”
In an impression of the moment, Odenkirk said in his Irons’ voice, “I can’t do this. I can sing. I can dance. I can juggle. I am a Shakespearean-trained actor. And you have me doing this!”
Odenkirk then revealed that he secretly recorded the scolding. “I had a little recorder, and I taped it because I loved it so much. I played it for many people. I don’t know where it is now. It’s at the bottom of a bin somewhere.”
He added, “And he was right, God bless him. It wasn’t a great monologue. But he’s a trooper.”
