The end is nigh, Breaking Bad fans.
Vince Gilligan held court at The Hollywood Reporter’s Nominees Night party on Monday at Spago, where he praised Ben Affleck’s Argo and their common star, Bryan Cranston.
“This guy is a true chameleon. Bryan Cranston is one of the great actors working today,” Gilligan said on the red carpet. “Watching him win these Emmys and win the SAG Award and really become celebrated, truly celebrated, for this amazing depth and breadth of talent that I’ve known he’s had for years — having other people realize it, too — it’s just wonderful. It feels so good. It makes me feel warm inside.”

And while Cranston’s role as Walter White on the hit AMC series will soon draw to a conclusion, the former Malcolm in the Middle actor appears to have no shortage of offers. In 2013 alone, Cranston has inked a first-look pact with Sony and is currently in talks to star in Godzilla opposite Elizabeth Olsen.
Meanwhile, the Breaking Bad cast began filming the fifth of their final eight episodes Monday, as the writers put the finishing touches on episodes six and seven. As for the series finale, Gilligan reveals that he’ll write that one himself.
“We have pretty much everything right now, we just need some connective tissue,” Gilligan said of the finale. “It’s kind of scary to know that it is it, this is all of it. Hopefully folks will like it.”
If the last four and a half seasons are any indication, we think the folks will like it a lot.
