Fox is staying in business with Brenda Song.
The Social Network and New Girl actress, who broke through on Disney Channel’s The Suite Life, has signed a talent holding deal to star in a 20th Century Fox Television project this development season at the network, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
“After working with Brenda on New Girl and Dads last season, we simply couldn’t let her go — she’s one of the most talented, funny and authentic young actresses out there today,” said Tess Sanchez, senior vp casting at Fox Broadcasting Company. “We’ve got an incredible development slate this year, with multiple roles for which Brenda would be the perfect fit, and we can’t wait to cast her in one of our upcoming pilots.”
Song has had a significant presence in the Fox family, starring as a series regular in the short-lived (and critically panned) sitcom Dads, which premiered Sept. 17, 2013, and ran for 19 episodes, and recurring on New Girl later that year. She also had guest turns on Scandal, Key & Peele and The League.
Song is repped by UTA, Curtis Talent Management and Felker Toczek Suddelson.
The news comes two weeks after The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi announced her departure from CBS’ critically lauded legal drama at the end of the current sixth season, signing a development/talent deal at 20th TV that would have her topline a drama pilot.
