ABC’s Astronaut Wives Club is staging a Breaking In reunion.
Bret Harrison has boarded the drama series from Gossip Girl‘s Stephanie Savage, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The 1960s-set drama tells the real story of the women who stood beside some of the biggest heroes in American history during the height of the space race. The series marks the first pilot Savage has written since she co-created the CW’s long-running Gossip Girl with her Fake Empire cohort Josh Schwartz. The series is based on Lily Koppel‘s best-selling novel published last summer. Janice Williams brought the project to Groundswell. Nick Cassavetes will direct the first entry in the 10-episode drama, which has been moved from summer to midseason.
Harrison will play Gordon “Gordo” Cooper, the hotshot young gun with an all-American swagger. The character’s wandering ways pushed his wife, Trudy (Breaking In alum Odette Annable), to the brink of divorce, but he’s convinced her to come back so he can have his shot at space.
The casting reunites Harrison with Annable, who both co-starred on Fox’s Breaking In, which ran for two seasons and had the duo playing each other’s love interests.
Harrison, whose credits also include Love Bites, V, Reaper and Grounded for Life, is repped by UTA and Management 360.
Astronaut Wives Club will debut the first of its 10-episode series in midseason.
