Simon Cowell‘s Britain’s Got Talent topped the Saturday-night ratings in the U.K. again with an average of 9.31 million viewers, according to ratings data.
However, the figures were down about 1.8 million from the prior week’s season-eight launch episode of the ITV talent competition, which became the highest-rated season opener ever for the show. The season opener had drawn 11.1 million viewers on average.

The second episode attracted 45.5 percent of British homes watching TV at the time. The show featured a young knife thrower and a teenage singer, among others.
In the same time slot, the BBC aired a show called Pointless Celebrities, which averaged 3.73 million viewers.
BGT also was the U.K. show drawing the most tweets Saturday night with 111,000, or a peak of 4,172 per minute.
ITV late last year struck a deal to bring back Cowell’s BGT and The X Factor for three more seasons. While the latter has seen declining ratings in recent years, BGT continues to be the highest-rated entertainment show on British TV.
Beyond Cowell, its judges are Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.
