LONDON – Conservative British politician Nadine Dorries has become the first person to be evicted from ITV’s reality TV show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The member of parliament, who had caused controversy when she had announced she would appear on the month-long show, lasted 12 days in the Australian jungle.
“I actually came here self-important… but I’m not now,” Dorries said after losing a public vote. She is the first sitting member of the British parliament to appear on it and was suspended by her party for being absent from her job.

Before the show’s latest season began, Dorries said she wanted to use her appearance to raise awareness for issues she is interested in, such as reducing the time limit on abortions from 24 weeks to 20 weeks.
The show sees celebrities living together in a jungle camp and undertaking a series of daily challenges. As part of her trials, Dorries had to eat such things as a camel toe. Members of the public vote for the celebrities they want to keep on the show.
Dorries had said she would donate her salary for the time she was on the show to charity.
For the public vote, she was up against former world darts champion Eric Bristow, former Doctor Who actor Colin Baker, EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks and ex-Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan.
Comedian Brian Conley quit the show this week because of health problems.
