Brothers & Sisters grad Dave Annable is checking in to Fox’s Red Band Society.
The 666 Park Avenue alum has boarded the network’s medical drama starring Octavia Spencer, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Red Band Society is described as a dark dramedy that focuses on the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital who become unlikely friends. The depth of the unexpected friendships allows them to survive the challenges of growing up under such intense circumstances.

Annable will play Dr. William McAndrew a rock star pediatric oncologist and surgeon. Compassionate and dedicated, McAndrew tries not to get too attached to his young patients but finds it hard not to.
Annable, repped by CAA, joins a cast that includes Spencer, who stars as a nurse, as well as Griffin Gluck, Charlie Rowe, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Zoe Levin, Brian Bradley, Ciara Bravo and Nolan Sotillo. The casting bring Annable back into the Fox fold after his turn on the network’s Reunion.

Boardwalk Empire‘s Margaret Nagle will pen the script and executive produce the ABC Studios/DreamWorks/Amblin Television entry alongside Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Sergio Aguero. Fox picked up Red Band Society with a script commitment in November and announced in January that the project was moving forward with a series prototype and backup scripts as the network takes a more forward-thinking approach to pilot season.
