TORONTO – Canadian indie producer marblemedia has hired former Momentum Entertainment Group highflier Roberto Alcantara to lead a stepped-up push into primetime series development.
Alcantara fills the newly-created job of vp, primetime scripted development, based in marblemedia’s Los Angeles office.
He’s tasked with developing a slate of primetime dramas and comedies for marblemedia, traditionally a family and kids TV producer now expanding into foreign markets and international co-productions.
Alcantara will report to marblemedia co-CEO and executive producer Matt Hornburg as he builds out key relationships with Hollywood writers and showrunners.
“Alcantara’s strong relationships with both reputable writers and emerging talent, as well as the trust he holds with many of our U.S. partners, will prove to be a tremendous asset in shaping our scripted slate,” Hornburg said in a statement.
Alcantara worked previously at Momentum Entertainment, developing and packaging series that included Full Circle.
He also worked at Ostar Enterprises and CAA.
Marblemedia also said on Thursday that it has promoted Miklos Perlus to vp, kids and family, after developing a a series slate that includes Japanizi: Going, Going, Gong!, Splatalot and Hi Opie! with The Jim Henson Company.
