Casey Anthony Speaks Out for First Time in Video Diary (Video)

It’s been six months since Casey Anthony was cleared of killing her daughter Caylee, in one of the most-watched trials in recent history.

Since then, there’s been little news of Anthony’s whereabouts and activities. On Thursday, however, Anthony, 25, broke the silence herself, speaking out for the first time in a video diary.

“It’s just a little surreal how much things have changed since July and how many things haven’t changed,” said Anthony in the video, which was posted on YouTube and Facebook. The video seems to have been recorded in October.

Anthony, who was acquitted of the murder of her 2-year old daughter last July after a six-month trial, seemed excited for her new video diary project.

“I’m excited that I’ll be able to Skype and obviously keep a video log, take some pictures and that I have something that I can finally call mine,” she said, adding that it’s “been a long time since I’ve been able to call something mine.”

Anthony does not talk about the trial or her current location, only saying that she plans to stay there “at least until the end of February.” She also mentions that she’s adopted a dog to keep her company.

“Now I in some ways have someone to talk to even when I am by myself so I am not bothering the poor dog who I have adopted and I love,” she added.

In the video, Anthony has short blonde hair and sports black-framed glasses. Despite being the center of a highly televised trial, she mentions that she still feels awkward on camera.

“I don’t know whether to look directly at myself or up,” she said. “It’s a little scary because I hate being on camera.”

Anthony was acquitted on July 5, 2011. Her daughter Caylee’s remains were found in December 2008 near her home, about 6 months after she was last seen.

In December, The Hollywood Reporter learned that TV producer Scott Sternberg and his Scott Sternberg Productions have been quietly pitching a no-holds-bared interview with Anthony. Multiple sources say Sternberg is asking between $500,000 and $750,000 to deliver Anthony. At that time, multiple cable networks had declined. Spokespeople for Discovery Communications’ TLC and ID confirmed that the networks have passed on the project. A&E Networks, which includes Lifetime and A&E, also passed.
