ABC’s Castle is adding a new face to its roster for season eight.
The Neighbors favorite Toks Olagundoye has boarded the Nathan Fillion-Stana Katic procedural as a series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Olagundoye will play Hayley, a quick-witted, free-spirited former Scotland Yard police officer who works as a security specialist and isn’t afraid to cross lines to get things done.
For Castle, the casting comes more than a month after former series regular Penny Johnson Jerald announced she would not be returning to the series for its upcoming eighth season.
Castle is undergoing a bit of a creative shake-up for its eighth season. Alexi Hawley (The Following) is returning to serve as co-showrunner alongside veteran Terence Paul Winter as the duo take over the reins of the series from David Amann. This will be Castle’s first season without series creator Andrew Marlowe and his writer-producer wife, Terri Miller, involved.
The gig brings Olagundoye back into the ABC family where she previously starred on the network’s alien comedy The Neighbors for two seasons. Her credits also include NBC pilot Feed Me, ABC Family’s The Foster and guest gigs on NCIS, Switched at Birth and more. She’s repped by APA and Shelter Entertainment.
Castle returns Monday, Sept. 21, at 10 p.m. on ABC.
