TORONTO – For a deal-or-no-deal TV show, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. came up on the wrong end of crunch negotiations for one of its five Dragon’s Den hosts.
At a loss for leverage, the public broadcaster failed to agree contract renewal terms for W. Brett Wilson to keep the Calgary businessman in the den for a fourth season.
“We’d like to thank Brett for his many contributions to Dragons’ Den over the past three successful seasons and the positive influence he’s had on Canadian entrepreneurs,” Julie Bristow, the CBC’s executive director of factual entertainment, said in a statement.
Well, Wilson does negotiate for a living. The CBC managed to sign the other four hosts, Arlene Dickinson, Jim Treliving, Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec to a fourth season as it searches for a fifth replacement host.
