TORONTO — Canadians have already warmed to Omni Film’s Ice Pilots NWT on History Channel, a reality series that also airs on National Geographic U.S. So the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. has ordered a new drama, Arctic Air, from indie producer Omni Film Productions, to bow in winter 2012.
Vancouver-based Omni has already produced earlier CBC dramas like The Odyssey, Edgemont and the Dragon Boys mini-series.
Arctic Air joins five other new CBC series for the 2011-12 season, including Mr. D, starring comic Gerry Dee, the Michael Tuesday and Thursdays comedy from writer Bob Martin, and the sword and sandals epic Camelot.
