CBS is literally going to the dogs.
The network on Thursday announced it has given a series order to Dogs in the City, an unscripted effort following New York dog whisperer Justin Silver to be executive produced by CSI: Crime Scene Investigation‘s Carol Mendelsohn.
The series, which will premiere Wednesday, May 30 at 8 p.m., will feature Silver helping to solve clients’ issues surrounding their canine companions.
“Dogs are at the center of the story here, but this is a show that reveals as much about human nature as man’s best friend,” Mendelsohn said in a statement announcing the effort. “Dogs are often a lightning rod for their owners’ emotions and dysfunction at home. Justin has an amazing gift to break down these complex issues with incredible heart, humor and, sometimes, much-needed candor.”
Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, Jen O’Connell and Nick Emmerson will executive produce; Gerry Greengrass will co-exec produce Dogs in the City, which hails from CBS’ Raquel Productions in association with Shed Media and Carol Mendelsohn Productions. For their part, Mendelsohn and CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler are avid dog lovers.
Dogs in the City will join CBS’ dating reality series 3 on its summer schedule. The series order marks the network’s latest dog-themed reality effort, following Greatest American Dog, a 10-episode 2008 competition series that featured judges Victoria Stilwell, Allan Reznik and Wendy Diamond.
