CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Studios have inked holding deals with three comedians from the company’s annual diversity comedy showcase.
Drew Tarver — who was cast this week on the network’s How I Met Your Mother spinoff How I Met Your Dad — as well as Haneefah Wood and Nico Santos have signed with the company and studio.
The annual showcase was held Jan. 22 and 23, and is a program designed to introduce diverse talent to casting agents industry wide. Thus far, the CBS Diversity Showcase has been responsible for booking more than 1,813 auditions for diverse actors. The network says 494 roles have been booked out of those auditions across broadcast and cable networks.
Wood began her career on the stage, with roles in Broadway productions of Rent, Avenue Q and Brooklyn. Her TV credits include White Collar, Nurse Jackie and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She’s repped by Principato Young.
Tarver, who was cast this week as a regular on How I Met Your Dad, has appeared in Animal Practice and Newsreaders. He’s a regular contributor to Funny or Die and a member of the Upright Citizens Brigate Harold Team who trained at UCB, Groundlings and more. He’s repped by Paradigm.
Santos debuted on Pride Comedy Jam in 2011 and has been a recurring panelist on Chelsea Lately and co-stars in TBS’ Ground Floor. He’s written for E!’s Fashion Police and has performed stand-up at the Improv, Laugh Factor and Comedy Store in Hollywood as well as festivals around the country. He’s repped by Green and Associates.
For its part, CBS’ showcase alum Chloe Wepper also booked a series regular role on a pilot this season, joining ABC’s comedy My Thoughts Exactly.
