CBS will keep its daytime lineup intact next season.
The network has renewed all five of its daytime shows — soaps The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful and game shows The Price Is Right and Let’s Make a Deal, along with The Talk — for 2019-20. The lineup collectively earned 56 Daytime Emmy nominations and is set to be the most-watched network daytime slate for the 32nd straight year.
“For almost a third of a century, CBS has demonstrated a remarkable legacy of success in daytime,” Angelica McDaniel, executive vp daytime programs and syndicated program development at CBS, said Tuesday in a statement. “Our programming continues to maintain a level of achievement unheard of in today’s television landscape, thanks to the passion and dedication of the extraordinary producers, casts, staff and crew on the shows, our studio partners, and most importantly, the fans. They have our deepest gratitude, and we look forward to entertaining them for many years to come.”
Price Is Right draws the biggest audience of the five, averaging about 4.9 million daily viewers. The venerable game show, which has been on since 1972, will air its 9,000th episode in October.
Young and the Restless, which has held the title of most-watched daytime drama for more than 30 years, is averaging 4.6 million viewers in 2018-19, while Bold and the Beautiful clocks in at 3.61 million. Let’s Make a Deal draws 3.1 million daily viewers, and The Talk averages 2.39 million.
The five shows represent the largest daytime entertainment lineup on the broadcast networks, ahead of ABC’s two shows (The View and General Hospital) and NBC’s one (Days of Our Lives).
