CBS Renews ‘Survivor’ for Two More Editions

CBS has ordered two more seasons of hit reality series Survivor, the network announced Wednesday.

Three-time Emmy winner Jeff Probst, who has been with Survivor since the very beginning, has also inked a deal to continue as host and executive producer on the program.

The 23rd and 24th editions are set to be broadcast during the 2011-12 television season.

This season, Survivor moved from its Thursday time slot to Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Survivor: Nicaragua, which aired in the fall, averaged 13.6 million viewer, a 4.3 in the key adult 18-49 demo and a 5.6 in the 25-54 category.

Its current edition, Redemption Island, averages 11.7 million viewers opposite Fox’s American Idol. In the 18-49 demo, the series currently averages a 3.4 and a 4.6 in the 25-54 demo.
