CBS Sets Fall Premiere Dates After ‘Thursday Night Football’s’ September Return

CBS has finalized its fall premiere dates — and, keeping in line with last year, the network is using Thursday Night Football as a promotional springboard.

CBS will start rolling out originals the Monday night following the network’s first weekday game of the NFL season (Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs on Sept. 17). The usual schedule, with scripted programming back on Thursdays, will resume as of Nov. 5.

“With many of the biggest hits on primetime television as well as Thursday Night Football, we have the ability to strategically roll out our new season over several weeks this fall,” said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler. “We’ve created a very focused scheduling and promotional environment to provide the best possible launch platform for new and returning series across the schedule.”

Noteworthy nonpremiere week dates include Monday, Oct. 26, when Supergirl kicks off, and Sunday, Oct. 4, when Madam Secretary, The Good Wife and CSI: Cyber return a week late. Their time slot will be occupied on Sept. 27 by the two-hour CSI parent series sendoff.
