Supergirl has scored a strong overnight debut audience on Canadian TV.
CBS’ freshman superhero drama with Melissa Benoist as the DC Comics character secured an average 1.7 million viewers (2+) on Monday night on Global Television, according to Numeris overnight data. That’s just behind the 1.8 million overnight premiere audience for ABC’s Quantico, which launched earlier this month on rival CTV.
Global premiered Supergirl at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, and will air the second episode in a regular 8 p.m. timeslot on Mondays, beginning Nov. 2. Supergirl – performing on Global – is a primetime win for parent company Shaw Media after CTV became the top-rated Canadian network on the strength of superhero dramas like The Flash, Gotham and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
