A police spokeswoman in Aspen, Colo., says Charlie Sheen has postedbond and been released from jail hours after he was arrested in analleged domestic violence case.
Stephanie Dasaro says the “Two and a Half Men” star posted$8,500 bond Friday after speaking with a county judge and was advisedon the conditions of his release.
Officers arrested the44-year-old actor Friday morning after responding to a 911 call from ahouse in the ski resort town. Sheen was taken into custody forinvestigation of second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies,along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
Dasaro declinedto name the accuser, citing a department policy prohibiting theidentification of potential victims in domestic violence cases.
Sheen’s publicist Stan Rosenfield released a statement saying, “It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.”
Charlie Sheen was arrested Friday in the Coloradoresort town of Aspen on charges related to domestic violence, policesaid.
The star of CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” was taken intocustody on suspicion of second-degree assault and menacing, bothfelonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, Aspen policespokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro said.
Police arrested the44-year-old actor after responding to a 911 call regarding a report ofdomestic violence at 8:34 a.m. at a historic house up for sale for $7.5million. The alleged victim in the case, whose name was withheld, didnot have to be taken to the hospital, police said.
Police saidSheen will be held without bond until his first court appearance inthis ski resort town about 200 miles west of Denver. The court wasclosed for Christmas, and no date for his appearance has been set.
Jail officials said Sheen wasn’t available to comment. After-hoursmessages left for his managers weren’t immediately returned.
Dasaro said Sheen would be advised of any bond conditions when heappears in court. Colorado law requires protection orders betweenpeople arrested in domestic violence cases and their alleged victims.
Sheen is the son of actor Martin Sheen. He is married to Brooke MuellerSheen, who gave birth to the couple’s first children, twin boys, inMarch. They married in May 2008 following Sheen’s bitter divorce fromDenise Richards.
Charlie Sheen’s screen credits include”Platoon,” “Wall Street” and the “Hot Shots!” movies. He nearly died ofa drug overdose in 1998 but received court-ordered rehabilitation.
