Sheen returned to the show for the first time since 2011, and spoke of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn. Dec. 14 of last year.
“If anybody from the NRA wants to look any of those parents in the eyes from that school and tell them that guns are still necessary, then I urge them to, and see how that goes,” Sheen told Piers Morgan. “We’re not supposed to bury our children.”
Morgan, who has been an outspoken advocate for stricter gun control laws in the wake of the Newtown shooting, said he understood American’s desires for guns for hunting or personal protection, but did not understand the appeal of assault weapons.
Sheen agreed, and said he used to be a target shooter and a vintage weapons collector, but had his guns taken away after he was charged in a domestic dispute. Sheen was arrested for domestic abuse against his then-wife Brooke Mueller in December 2009, though he did not specify if this incident resulted in his guns being taken away.
“I’m OK with it,” he said of not having any guns. “I have a security team that is pretty well armed.”
But he misses shooting in an underground range in his house, which he said he spent hours doing.
“It was very Zen for me. But I didn’t carry.”
Sheen returns on FX’s Anger Management Thursday at 9 p.m. Piers Morgan Tonight airs weeknights at 9 p.m. ET on CNN.
