Charlie Sheen‘s attorney said late Thursday that police confiscated an antique gun from the 1800s along with “a few bullets” from the actor’s home during a search.
The Los Angeles Police Department conducted the search to see whether he was in possession of weapons, which would violate a restraining order taken out against him last week by ex-wife Brooke Mueller.
Mark Gross, a divorce attorney for Sheen, said the police took the antique gun and bullets into custody. But Sheen was not disturbed and “mostly eating dinner,” during the search, he said.
Gross also denied there was any truth to the rumors that police were looking at possibly placing Sheen on an involuntary psychiatric hold, also known as a 5150, calling the reports “the imagination of other people.”
“Charlie is great and in good spirits and is looking forward to tomorrow,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “He understands this is the price he pays for what goes on around him.”
The LAPD said there was no incident that prompted the search other than the fact that Sheen has firearms registered in his name.
Gross said the search warrant “was issued as a result of somebody, some crack call” who claimed that Sheen was in violation of a restraining order stipulation.
Gross added that he does not believe that Mueller triggered the police investigation. “I am confident that Brooke had nothing to do with this.”
The search came the same day Sheen filed a $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros. and Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre following his being fired from Men earlier this week.
Sheen’s Bel-Air gated community was swarmed by scores of paparazzi and television trucks. As Gross spoke, television helicopters swirled overhead.
