Charlize Theron (WME, One Talent, Hansen Jacobson) will star in "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance," an adaptation of the final installment in Park Chan-wook's revenge trilogy.
NBC is officially getting into the Hatfields and McCoys drama.
The network handed out a pilot order Monday to the Charlize Theron-produced Hatfields & McCoys, marking its ninth drama this season.

Set in present-day Pittsburgh, the drama begins when a startling death reignites the legendary feud between the families. Unleashing decades of resentment, the blue-collar McCoys will put the Hatfields’ wealth and power at risk as they go to war for control of the city.
Theron will executive produce alongside A.J. Dix, Dawn Olmstead and Beau Flynn, with Eagle Eye‘s John Glenn attached to pen the pilot. The drama hails from ABC Studios — where Theron is under an overall deal — and the Oscar winner’s Denver & Delilah, Tower Hill, Beau Flynn Productions and Grady Girl.

The news follows History’s record-breaking success with its six-hour miniseries Hatfields & McCoys, which starred Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton as patriarchs of America’s most famous feuding families. Theron’s project predates History’s program.
Theron has been an active producer, with credits including features Young Adult, Sleepwalking and Monster. She has a handful of features in development as well as a small-screen effort — Mind Hunter, with David Fincher — in development at HBO, among others.
