Original Charmed stars Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan don’t seem to be on board with CBS revisiting their former show.
News broke Oct. 25 that CBS is developing a “reimagination” of The WB Network series that ran from 1998-2006, ordering a script for a Charmed 2.0 from Party of Five co-creator Chris Keyser and partner Sydney Sidner. CBS Television Studios, which owns the rights to Aaron Spelling‘s library, will produce the reboot.

Milano, who played Phoebe Halliwell on the series that centered on four sisters who discover that their destiny is to battle against the forces of evil using their witchcraft, took to Twitter to weigh in on the bid to reboot her former show.
“The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is… it just… it feels like yesterday. It feels too close,” she wrote.
McGowan, meanwhile, was less pointed, tweeting shortly after the development news broke that she thought the project lacked originality.
“They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood,” she wrote, adding a minute later: “lame lame lame lamertons.”
Milano and McGowan starred alongside Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs on Charmed, which ran for eight seasons on The WB Network. CBS’ attempted reboot comes as witches remain a hot commodity on the small screen this season, thanks to Lifetime’s Witches of East End, FX’s American Horror Story: Coven and WGN America’s upcoming Salem.
