Business news startup Cheddar has struck a deal with Fusion to bring its live programming to the cable channel.
Under the deal Cheddar programming will air on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Fusion network. It will premiere later this month.
“Our audience craves enriching programming that shares their curiosity, sharpness, and passion,” said Fusion TV president and chief content officer Daniel Eilemberg. “Cheddar is taking a young, conversational approach to covering news, culture, finance and technology live, every day, in unique, accessible and exciting ways. We are thrilled to have them joining our lineup.”
Cheddar, founded by former BuzzFeed and DailyMail executive Jon Steinberg, has been live broadcasting its finance and business programming from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange since last year. The company struck a streaming deal with Twitter last year.
“Fusion TV reflects the diversity of voices and interests that young audiences are looking for,” said Steinberg. “They are also a network that shares our commitment to experimentation and outside-the-box thinking when it comes to creating and delivering content, making them a great partner for Cheddar as we continue to expand our reach.”
Cheddar raised $19 million in May led by Raine Ventures and was valued at $85 million. It has raised a total of $32 million from investors that include Amazon, Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and Comcast Ventures.
