Chelsea Handler is getting another outlet.
Her late-night E! show, Chelsea Lately, will be simulcast for SiriusXM subscribers beginning Feb. 18. In a bid to lift the cable series’ viewership and buzz, the show will be available on the Raw Dog SiriusXM Comedy Hits channel, which features comedy voices including Louis C.K., Jim Gaffigan and Jimmy Fallon, as well as through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App. The looser talk show will continue to air nightly at 11 p.m. as well.
“In the twilight of my life, I’ve decided to transition off camera and on to the sound waves of SiriusXM. But, if you can’t hear, you can still find me on E!” Handler said in a statement announcing the news Wednesday.
Added SiriusXM’s president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein of the famously raunchy host: “Chelsea is a singular voice in late-night TV with a bold, glamorous, irreverent, sharply funny style. We are very excited to bring her to a national audience of satellite subscribers.”
The news comes as the late-night marketplace is poised for a seismic shift, with Jimmy Fallon set to replace veteran Jay Leno as host of NBC’s The Tonight Show. As part of the reshuffling, the network has tapped Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers to take over the 12:35 a.m. Late Night slot. For her part, Handler inked a new two-year deal with NBCUniversal-owned E! in late 2011, which will keep her at the femme-focused cable network through 2014.
Additionally, Handler will host an exclusive one-hour show from NFL’s Radio Row in Manhattan on Jan. 31 at 12 p.m. The pre-Super Bowl entry will feature special guests and will air live.
