Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) has become one of Chicago P.D.’s most beloved characters thanks in no small part to her dry wit.
However, Wednesday’s episode of the NBC cop drama proves to be no laughing matter for the longtime desk sergeant.
In The Hollywood Reporter‘s exclusive video from Wednesday’s episode, Platt is viciously attacked while walking to her car from her father’s place. Platt is able to find a weapon she has hidden in her car. However, her attacker quickly finds a way to use it against her, and the scene ends on a terrifying cliffhanger.
Showrunner Matt Olmstead opened up about the episode last month. “It’s great for Amy. We’ve all along wanted to do something like this for her and we were just waiting for the right time, so it’s basically, ‘Who almost killed Platt?’ Did it have to do with her dad?” he told THR. “And, ultimately, when she finds out who did it, ironically, she has the same impulse that Voight [Jason Beghe] did, which is to take matters into her own hands. And is that something that Voight would actively try to dissuade her from doing?”
To see the attack and find out why Platt was visiting her father in the first place, watch the exclusive video below.
Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
