Netflix is setting its cast for its Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special.
Mckenna Grace will guest-star in the previously announced one-off special, “A Midwinter’s Tale,” set for Friday, Dec. 14. Additionally, Alexis Denisof and Jedidiah Goodacre have landed recurring roles in the second season of the Netflix drama from Riverdale boss Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
The Sabrina holiday special is set during the Church of Night’s celebration of the winter solstice. On the longest night of the year, families gather around the Yule fire to sing pagan carols and tell ghost stories. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors — both welcome and unwelcome.
Grace (Annabelle 3, Captain Marvel, Gifted) will play Li’l Sabrina when viewers will get a chance to see what the character was like as a youngster. While the Church of Night celebrates the Solstice, that won’t stop young Sabrina from asking for something special.
Denisof (Much Ado About Nothing, Angel) will recur as Mary Wardwell’s (series regular Michelle Gomez) boyfriend, Adam Masters. Handsome and charming, Adam returns to Greendale after a stint overseas working with Physicians Without Frontiers — unaware that his fiance has been taken over by the demoness Madam Satan.
Goodacre (The Originals, Descendants) will recur as warlock Dorian Gray. The owner of Dorian’s Gray Room, an exclusive nightclub, this enigmatic gentleman of an indeterminate age is very good at keeping secrets, especially his own — a cursed portrait he hides from prying eyes.
Grace joins Sabrina’s regular cast — lead Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen and Lachlan Watson — in the special. Showrunner Aguirre-Sacasa and Donna Thorland wrote “A Midwinter’s Tale” and Jeff Woolnough directed. A premiere date for season two of Sabrina has yet to be determined.
