“Love. We’re made from love, with love, to love,” This is Us star Chrissy Metz told The Hollywood Reporter during the Drama Actress Roundtable. “The show is so relatable because we’re all going through something, it doesn’t matter how tall, thin, rich, poor we are, that we all want the same thing.”
“Everything is about the way we look, initially, so I think it’s super important that the fear is being removed,” said Metz on the scariest scene she shot for the NBC series where we had to get undressed and stand on a scale.

Metz worked on American Horror Story: Freak Show, thinking it would be a big break, but it didn’t lead to another job for a year. “There was a whole year where I literally had one audition, and when I auditioned for the show I had 81 cents in my bank account,” Metz told THR.
More roundtables featuring comedy and drama actresses, actors, showrunners and reality creators will continue through July in print and online. Tune in to new episodes of Close Up With The Hollywood Reporter starting May 25 on Sundance TV, and look for clips at THR.com/topic/roundtables with full episodes on THR.com after broadcast.
