Chrissy Teigen and John Legend received a lot of criticism when Teigen revealed that the couple chose the gender of their baby.
Appearing on Tuesday’s Good Morning America, Teigen talked about the response to her People interview, in which she said she chose to have a little girl.
“I didn’t realize that this is so not really talked about,” Teigen told Robin Roberts. “In my world it is, because everyone I know has gone through this.” She added that she was casual about her decision because she “didn’t anticipate all of the people that have never heard of such a thing before.”
“We’re happy with our decision, and we’re proud of it,” Teigen added. “We’re glad we’re living in a time that we could do such a thing. We definitely didn’t anticipate any kind of backlash from it.”
Teigen reiterated that she’s excited to see Legend as father to a baby girl and that she’s giving him a daughter this time, but next time she will aim to have a son.
The model and TV show host also talked about the face she made when Stacey Dash made her awkward Oscars cameo. Her reaction went viral on social media, and Teigen took to Twitter to explain.
I was making the face from the Stacey Dash moment ahhhhhhh not Sarah!

“Our whole area was still talking about it well into the Sarah Silverman segment because we were just so floored by the silence of it,” Teigen said on GMA. “And it was so funny to see Chris [Rock] and Kevin [Hart] both look at each other like, ‘Oh man, that was weird.’ It was so funny to us.”
She added, “I gotta show my face. I can’t hold it in.”
