Arnett, who co-created the series with Mark Chappell, will play a celebrated, long-time resident of the insular world of Venice, Calif., who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination. When that happens, his life begins to unravel.
Mintz-Plasse will recur as a tech whiz kid new to Venice and desperate to fit in.
Heather Graham, Kirstie Alley, Lina Esco, Travis Mills and Robert Wisdom are already on board to recur.
Arnett, Chappell, Mitch Hurwitz, Peter Principato and Ben Silverman are executive producing.
The series marks a rare foray into live-action series work for Mintz-Plasse, who is best known for movies such as Superbad and the Kick-Ass series. He also voices Fishlegs in the How to Train Your Dragon movies and Netflix animated series.
Mintz-Plasse, who is repped by CAA and Principato Young, is currently shooting Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and will lend his voice, along with Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake, to DWA’s upcoming animated feature Trolls.
