Former Cineflix Productions U.K. executives Camilla Lewis and Rob Carey have completed a management buyout with Canadian parent Cineflix Media to launch their own TV production shingle, Curve Media.
The departure of Lewis, Cineflix Productions managing director, and Carey, creative director, continues a yearlong restructuring at Cineflix Media that included the departures of other top executives, including former Cineflix Productions CEO Simon Lloyd and executive vp Joe Houlihan leaving to launch their own indie producer.
Lewis and Carey, joint CEOs at Curve Media, will be joined by two other former Cineflix Productions execs, Iain Taylor as director of development and Paul Day as director of production. Curve Media will focus on factual and factual entertainment content for U.K. and North American broadcasters.
The buyout deal includes Curve Media acquiring a slate of developed and commissioned programming from Cineflix. Beyond renewals of series like BBC One’s Claimed and Shamed and Salvage Hunters for Discovery Quest, Curve has two new commissions, Going For A Drive with Richard Wilson for ITV1 and My Strange Pregnancy for TLC International.
Curve Media also has a five-year output deal with BBC Worldwide for the global distribution rights to new commissions. Montreal-based Cineflix Media remains in the U.K. market with Buccaneer Media, a joint venture with veteran U.K. soap producer Tony Wood, and its international distribution arm Cineflix Rights, which retains the rights to existing Cineflix Productions shows.
The American Pickers producer this week received a greenlight from History in the U.S. market for Gangland Undercover, a fact-based drama, while Red Hot Design just launched on FYI USA.
