AFP/Getty ImagesLONDON – CNN and U.K. broadcaster ITV will air the first TV interview with Prince William since the birth of his baby with Kate Middleton.
The interview is part of a documentary with the working title Prince William’s Passion: New Father, New Hope that production firm Spun Gold TV is completing in partnership with CNN. ITV ordered it for the U.K.
The documentary will air here on ITV next month. Further details on the scheduling weren’t immediately available.
CNN will air portions of the Prince William interview on New Day on Monday. The complete documentary will air on CNN on Sept. 15.
The interview was conducted at Kensington Palace in the British capital.
In it, “Prince William shares his joy at becoming a father, talks about his hopes for his new family and his passion for wildlife conservation,” ITV said. “Prince William also talks about his love of Africa, his commitment to wildlife conservation and his hope that Prince George will one day share these passions.”
As patron of Tusk Trust, a U.K. charity that funds African conservation projects, Prince William, along with Middleton, will be guest of honor at the inaugural Tusk Conservation Awards on Sept. 12. They will honor unsung heroes of wildlife conservation.
“The documentary will include coverage of the awards presentation by the Prince and exclusive footage of [Prince William and Middleton] as they meet the nominees at a private reception,” according to the producers. The event will mark one of the first public appearances of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as the royal couple is known here, following the birth of Prince George.
At the U.K. broadcaster, the documentary was ordered by Jo Clinton-Davis, controller of factual at ITV. “The documentary offers viewers a unique and rare insight into the true passions in Prince William’s life – Africa, wildlife conservation and, above all, his family,” said the executive.
