Stephen Colbert was on vacation last week but when he returned with Monday’s Late Show, the host was quick to talk about “covfefe,” Trump’s Paris climate agreement withdrawal and his travel ban tweets.
After describing Trump’s recent tweets attacking the Justice Department over his travel ban as Trump hitting himself, Colbert brought up Trump’s viral “covfefe” tweet.
“I know this happened five days ago, but I will not be denied the chance to enjoy this one,” said Colbert. “It was the new ‘What color is the dress?’ but instead of white vs. blue it was sleepy vs. stroke?”
He found it amusing that Trump deleted the tweet and replaced it by joking, “Who can figure out the true meaning of covfefe? Enjoy.”
“It’s great follow-up to everything he does that makes no sense,” said Colbert, before rattling off a list of fake Trump tweets. “Who can figure out the reason I inflicted my corrosive vortex of paranoia, wounded ego and stifling inhumanity on this great nation??? Enjoy!” He also had fun making the meaning of “covfefe” allude to the unsubstantiated rumors Trump paid women for a golden shower in Russia.
Colbert also touched on Trump’s move to withdraw from the Paris climate change agreement, joking that when he said he was elected to represent Pittsburgh not Paris he had mispronounced St. Petersburg.
