Stephen Colbert’s repeat episode of The Late Show on Monday night was swapped in with a new monologue from the host recorded in the study of his home. Colbert recapped the second presidential debate in a video called The Late Show’s We’re Not Working Post-Debate Spectacular: Home Edition! with a special guest, an “adorable undecided kitty.”
“Yesterday was the second presidential debate and like with all sequels, it left you wondering, ‘Why do they keep making these?’ ” said the host.
Colbert commented on the leaked tapes of Donald Trump making crass comments about women in a 2005 hot mic conversation with Billy Bush. Since the release of the Access Hollywood footage, Bush has been suspended from his gig as anchor on the Today show.
“It was a really disturbing weekend, especially for parents who had to sit down and explain to their kids who Billy Bush was,” said Colbert.

Colbert also had words for Trump’s apology for his comments, which he described during the debate as just “locker room talk.”
“What gym does Donald Trump belong to?” asked Colbert. He also joked about Trump and Hillary Clinton not shaking hands at the start of the debate, saying, “In Hillary Clinton’s defense, she now knows where that hand has been.”
Colbert also touched upon Trump’s relationship with vice presidential candidate Mike Pence, whom Trump said he hadn’t spoken to in a while when asked a question on Pence’s political views: “So Trump hasn’t spoken to Mike Pence, but I really think he should reach out soon because I’m pretty sure at this point, Mike Pence is an undecided voter.”
