A seemingly prescient clip from The Bachelor is resurfacing online in the wake of Colton Underwood coming out as gay.
The 2019 video (below) features Billy Eichner visiting the set of the ABC reality hit and briefly teasing Underwood about his sexuality.
During the exchange, the Billy on the Street star skeptically quizzes the former NFL player about being a virgin. Then Underwood asked Eichner what he looks for in a partner.
“The first thing I do – I’m gay, I know that’s a shock, Colton,” Eichner says, “and that, I think, you should look into.”
Underwood chuckles, and Eichner adds, “Maybe you’re the first gay Bachelor and we don’t even know!”
Underwood smiles and stammers a bit, seemingly speechless.
Then Eichner turns to the camera, “Put that in your promo!” Here’s the clip (the exchange starts at 2:09).
Fans pointed out the clip to Eichner on Twitter on Wednesday, and the host replied, “I’m happy for @colton. If you’re gay, be gay! I’ve been gay forever & I love it!”
Underwood revealed he was gay on Good Morning America on Wednesday.
“Obviously, this year has been a lot for a lot of people, and it’s probably made a lot of people look themselves in the mirror and figure out who they are and what they’ve been running from or what they’ve been putting off in their lives,” he said during a sit-down with Robin Roberts. “For me, I’ve ran from myself for a long time; I’ve hated myself for a long time. And, I’m gay. I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it. And the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know. I’m still nervous.”
