TV Land is expanding its single-camera originals, picking up both of its comedy pilots to series.
The Viacom-owned cable network has ordered to series single-camera comedies Impastor and Teachers, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Both 10-episode comedies will debut in 2015.
Single-camera entry Teachers, from exec producer Alison Brie (Community), is based on the web series that revolves around six elementary-school teachers. Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O’Brien and Katie Thomas will all reprise their roles in the comedy from Matt Miller and Cap Gun TV. The group of six, known as The Katydids, will exec produce alongside Brie and showrunners Ian Roberts and Jay Martel (Key and Peele).

Impastor stars Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum as a lowlife who hides out in a small town by conning the residents into thinking he’s their newly hired gay pastor. Chris Vane serves as showrunner on the comedy that hails from exec producers Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Rob Greenberg and Rosenbaum. Sara Rue and Aimee Garcia co-star.
“Impastor and Teachers are perfect examples of the type of comedies we’re looking for as TV Land evolves its original series — innovative, unconventional and hilariously funny for an audience that enjoys smart humor with a hint of heart,” TV Land president Larry W. Jones said.
Teachers and Impastor join a roster of TV Land originals including The Exes, Hot in Cleveland, The Soul Man, Darren Star‘s Younger and newly ordered The Gaffigan Show, which landed at the cable network after CBS passed on the pilot.
The two new series come as TV Land has been pushing deeper into single-camera fare with Younger, Gaffigan and Jennifer Falls. The fate of Jaime Pressly starrer Jennifer Falls, which completed its 10-episode run in August, has yet to be determined. Watch a trailer for TV Land’s Teachers below.
