Starz’s swords-and-sandals drama Spartacus made what could be its farewell stop at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, bowing the trailer for its third and final season to an enthusiastic crowd.
The premium cable network and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight agreed in June to conclude the Liam McIntyre starrer with a 10-episode run titled War of the Damned, which will kick off in January.

Executive producer DeKnight introduced the footage, joined by Spartacus Liam McIntyre and surprise guest Lucy Lawless, whose character Lucretia was among the dead in the bloody Season 2 finale. Lawless was joined by fellow co-stars Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Peter Mensah, Craig Parker, Viva Bianca, Nick Tarabay and Katrina Law on the panel, which featured a touching moment when the packed ballroom gave the late Spartacus star Andy Whitfield a standing ovation. Whitfield died in September of lymphoma.
