Comic Pete Holmes to Host TBS Late-Night Series From EP Conan O’Brien

TBS is expanding its relationship with Conan O’Brien.

The cable-network home to Conan has ordered 16 episodes of a late-night series starring comedian Pete Holmes, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Episodes of the series, currently untitled, will air Monday-Thursdays at midnight following Conan and run for four weeks. The half-hour show will launch in the fall and be taped before a live studio audience, combining sketches, short film, live comedy, field pieces and in-studio guests.

“Pete Holmes is an enormously likable performer with an agile and innovative mind,” said executive producer O’Brien. “I’m really looking forward to his show, and I’ve already had my son program my DVR.”

“Pete is a phenomenal talent with a truly unique point of view,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies. “He has just the right comic sensibility and style we’re looking for to follow Conan in our late-night lineup.”

Holmes added: “The first half of my meeting with Conan was spent making sure this wasn’t all part of a new TBS prank show called You Got Coned! The second half was spent expressing my sincerest enthusiasm and gratitude for this incredible dream come true.”

The series will be executive produced by O’Brien’s Conaco banner and be exec produced by Jeff Ross, David Kissinger, Nick Bernstein, Dave Rath and O’Brien.

For TBS, the series comes as the network is ramping up its original and unscripted fare, recently renewing competition series King of the Nerds for a second season. The Holmes-hosted entry joins an increasingly crowded cable late-night landscape that includes efforts fronted by Russell Brand, W. Kamau Bell, Chelsea Handler, Kathy Griffin, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Tavis Smiley.

Holmes, who has hosted the You Made It Weird podcast — featuring nearly 6 million downloads — has starred in a Batman parody series on CollegeHumor.com and voices the eTrade baby in commercials. He’s repped by WME.
