Another Community alum is checking in to Dr. Ken.
Jonathan Banks will reunite with former co-star Ken Jeong on his ABC sitcom next month, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Banks, who recurred on the fifth season of Community as Professor Buzz Hickey, will play Dr. Erwin, Ken’s toughest professor from his days as a resident. Leaving a lasting scar, Dr. Erwin continually challenged Ken and gave him poor evaluations. Years later, he has now come to Ken for medical treatment, giving Ken a chance to finally prove himself to his curmudgeonly former nemesis.
The episode, titled “Ken’s Old Professor,” will air March 10.
Banks is the latest in a long line of Community grads that have appeared on Jeong’s sophomore sitcom, which he also co-created. Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs and Yvette Nicole Brown have also guest-starred.
Banks joined the single-camera comedy in its final season on NBC, which also saw the departures of series regulars Chevy Chase and Donald Glover.
The veteran actor currently stars on Better Call Saul, which returns April 10 for season three. On the AMC drama, Banks reprises his Emmy-nominated role from Breaking Bad, Mike Ehrmantraut. His other recent credits include The Lizzie Borden Chronicles and Horrible Bosses 2. Banks is repped by Domain Talent and Lovett Management.
Dr. Ken airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
