NBC’s Community has a knack for finding itself facing a questionable future – both onscreen and off. That would be true for Thursday’s trio of finale episodes and its fourth season move to the Friday night death slot.

“First and foremost we have to celebrate what has been a long, sort of hopeful journey to get to a season four,” Jim Rash, who plays Dean Pelton, says on a press call about the show’s recent renewal.
Some believed that the series was destined for either a cancellation or the announcement of its final season. Neither of those materialized. What did happen was a move to Friday nights, the industry’s so-called “death slot.”
“Obviously, we’ve survived little changes and moves and our fans seem to follow us,” Rash, who became a series regular this season, says. “We’re going to just hope they find us again and I’m sure they will. They’re a very tenacious group.”

For now, fans can spend their time worrying about how Greendale will survive the Chang (Ken Jeong) wars on Thursday’s three final episodes of the season. And Rash says that even though Dean Pelton can be blamed for handing the power to Chang in the first place, he’ll find some redemption.
“He has only himself to blame for the chaos that ensued,” Rash, 41, says. “As you will see this Thursday, it’s sort of nice to see as the dean get involved with the study group as we try to reclaim Greendale. And I think, you know at least this is the closest he has, or least hope to become one of the group, but you’ll just have to wait and see.”
