AT&T Audience Network is sticking with its scripted originals.
Following its corporate parent’s acquisition of Warner Bros., the cable platform has handed out a second-season renewal for drama Condor as well as picked up comedy You Me Her for a fourth and fifth season.
The news comes as Audience Network is poised to meet the press Friday afternoon at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour and after the November dismissal of former programming chief Chris Long.
“We’re excited to bring back some of our most popular original shows as well as introduce a new documentary as we kick off the fall season,” said Daniel York, chief content officer and senior executive vice president at AT&T. “We want to give customers more choices from our popular slate of original programming — whether they enjoy comedy, high-intense drama or captivating docuseries.”
Joining the Audience Network slate is new documentary Give Us This Day, bowing Nov. 8, which tracks a year in East St. Louis, the city with the highest homicide rate in the U.S.
As for scripted originals, drama Condor — from MGM Television and Skydance Television — is a conspiracy thriller based on the novel Six Days of the Condor by James Grady and the screenplay Three Days of the Condor by Lorenzo Semple Jr. and David Rayfiel. The drama follows a young CIA analyst (Max Irons) who stumbles into a terrible but brilliant plan that threatens the lives of millions. William Hurt and Mira Sorvino co-stars in the drama from Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg.
You Me Her, meanwhile, stars Greg Poehler, Rachel Blanchard and Priscilla Faia as a “throuple.” The series hails from creator/showrunner John Scott Shepherd, Entertainment One and Alta Loma Entertainment.
Audience Network’s slate of scripted originals also includes the upcoming second seasons of Mr. Mercedes (returning Aug. 22) and Loudermilk (Oct. 16). Still to be determined are the futures of scripted drama Ice and comedy Hit the Road.
